A Shared Service taken completely by the Anglicans

Hello everybody!  We have been sharing our chapel with St Peter’s Church and  they had originally hoped to be back in their Church today, but they will not return now until December 18th 2011. We had been invited to join them in their newly refurbished Church, so the Anglicans, as planned, took today’s service and the preacher was the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, the Rt Revd John Packer.  He spoke of the Advent Hope.  We had a choral communion and I found I knew all the responses and could recite the consecration prayers led by Rev Tony Shepherd; it was like going back to my youth in St Wilfred’s Church!  I must admit I missed the way we receive communion in the Methodist Church, as we go forward and stay until we are dismissed together; whereas we queued for receiving communion as is customary in the Anglican Church, but could not linger, as there was a queue behind us waiting to receive.  I love the sense of worship and peace as we are gathered at the front only moving together after the minister has said a prayer.  It was a worshipful service.  This is the day that the Lord has made and I rejoice and am glad in it.
