On Monday 9th March I joined the Lenten group at Woodlands Chapel. I found the discussion interesting led by our minister Rev Christine Gillespie. It was good to look at the disciples as the course was called a journey of discovery, on the road with Jesus’ followers. On Wednesday our gardener Martyn came to begin the spring tidy up and made good progress before the rain curtailed his efforts. Cathy had just come back from her latest period of 22 days work and needed time to recuperate, so having only returned on Tuesday came to see us on the Thursday when we just relaxed together. It was lovely to spend time with her. Beth was on holiday that week so I spent some time with her on Friday morning which was great. I was glad she had had a week’s rest as she needed a break. It was good to relax with my beloved and enjoy our favourite television programs and films. I just needed time to relax.
On Saturday I went to share in a Super Soup day lunch arranged by Ulrike to raise money for Christian Aid. The soup was delicious as of course were her excellent German style cheesecake and apple cake. Unfortunately my beloved had battled with a nasty infection round his wisdom tooth and gums so was rather under par that week and therefore was unable to come with me. However I brought him some apple cake from Ulrike and that was very welcome to him. The best part of £400 was raised which has gone to support a number of worthwhile projects abroad. She always makes a wonderful effort to raise money during Lent.
