On Monday January 4th I finally managed to meet up with my former colleague, Joy, who is still working at the surgery. However it was her day off so she suggested we met at the surgery, where I could park and then she drove me to a service station, where there were plenty of parking spaces. We were able to have a long chat in the service station, while Joy treated me to a drink and biscuit, without us having to move on quickly. It was lovely to be able to have a long chat and we look forward to meeting for a lunch maybe. Although I don’t miss work I do miss seeing her and being encouraged by her.
I had a relaxing week but still felt rather tired. I expected that the Acorn Centre was beginning on Friday and only found out a day or so before that the start date had been put off till the following Friday. It was good to have an extra day of relaxation.
I enjoyed meeting Beth after work when we had a chat and drink and cake together at our local M&S Cafe.
On Saturday we had our monthly fund raising coffee morning at my former Chapel, now a community centre to raise money for WATERAID. We were raising money which was specifically to provide clean water for families and build toilets. Apparently the Government will match any donation, so that will be good.
I had a treat of a lovely massage at Skin Sanctuary, mostly funded by my younger daughter Cathy’s generous Christmas gift. We have still got the lovely variety of gifts from my elder daughter, Beth to enjoy. I have been eating more chocolates from my daughters, a lovely treat, but rather naughty! Now it is so much fun rediscovering the gifts after the enjoyment of my two Christmases; first with Cathy and then with Beth. My beloved and I have enjoyed a quiet couple of weeks relaxing, watching the new series on the television and films via our lovely Now Box; our new updated box is bringing us the I Player, and other channels much quicker too, a Christmas treat to ourselves.
