About Bright Light

‘Bright Light’ is the weblog of Helen Evison.

Helen is an accredited Methodist local preacher and, formerly a secondary school teacher, she subsequently worked as a clinical coder and summarizer at a doctors practice before retiring from paid employment. Helen is also a volunteer helper in IT skills at the Acorn Centre. She has stood as a Labour Party candidate in both District & County Council elections and is actively involved with the Harrogate Fair Trade Campaign.

Helen has two daughters, Beth and Cathy, from her marriage to Stephen (married 1976 – widowed 1998).

She met Malcolm in Holy Week 1999, at St.Marks Church in Harrogate, and they were married in February 2000.  Since acquiring a rescue dog, Piper (a podenco / beagle hybrid) in June 2016, their lives have been greatly transformed!
